I went the simple fix of adding a 12V battery disconnect switch to the '-'  side of the house battery. I shut it off when the trailer is stored and off shore power. Obviously it cannot be charged when disconnected, and also all the AC breakers need to be on in the house to enable the invertor to charge that battery. I discovered.

This is an ongoing thread- I am asking as I see two failure modes- one is the welded aluminum bracket/channel -whatever - that the steel axle bolts to detached, and two- that a grossly undersized axle was used on some single axle models roundabouts the transition to Thor. Two totally different defects. My 2017 16TBS does have what I am pretty sure from taking a peek, is a 4,000 lb axle (not 4500# many mention) certainly not a 2500.... Decal on the Dexter axle was source for this rating. (Its nearly gone, though). How would one know their welds is/are going to fail, though ? What indicates an improperly welded set of brackets that the axle bolts to ?

We just bought our 2017 16TBS , and everything I've ever seen in years of shopping rigs is sink and shower are grey water, the commode is the only black water tank source. I have not gone under the rig to verify the condition and tightness of all the hose clamps and hoses (and where they go), though.....

Ok, new to me 2017 16TBS. The 12V battery is going dead in one day in storage on the side yard- of the house. All AC breakers are in the 'off' position and the main switch for 12VDC stuff like all the lights (on your right, mounted to the side wall of sink cabinet base as you enter the coach) is 'off'. Where are the other current drains occurring ? I know there is some load on the battery still as when I removed the cables from the battery terminals and 30A breakers on the trailer frame for cleaning and lubing, there was a pretty sizeable spark upon reconnect- more than I would expect for a system thats 'off'. Maybe a stupid question, yes, and maybe as simple a fix as installing a high amperage 12V battery disconnect SW near the house battery although not sure why thats necessary. Also in this low voltage condition of a nearly dead house battery, the oxygen sensor (or propane gas carbon monoxide....) starts 'chirping' at about a 1 minute interval. The Propane is off, the vents are open slightly, nothing is being combusted and I'm pretty sure there is no offending gas(s) involved. Does that gas detector have a battery that needs replacing, like a smoke detector ?

2 questions, I know............

Thanks !

New Members / Hello From FL new to us 2017 16TBS

Hey all, Greg and Kim here in Melbourne, FL. Just purchased our lightly used 2017 16TBS from some really nice folks on the FL West Coast. The extent of our own RVing is the towing of it 165 miles home (other than as guests in other people's rigs, and Kim some pop up camping as a kid).....Been doing some light detailing on it, and beginning to familiarize ourselves with the electrical and mechanical systems on the rig so I imagine we'll have many questions from the experts out there !
