Ranitidine 150 mg is a medication commonly used to treat conditions related to excess stomach acid. It belongs to a class of drugs called H2 blockers, which reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces. Ranitidine is often prescribed for heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, and esophagitis caused by acid reflux. It can also be used to prevent stomach ulcers from recurring and to treat conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. However, due to safety concerns, ranitidine was withdrawn from many markets in 2020, and alternatives like famotidine are commonly used now.
