My original a/c unit has died and I'm replacing it myself. My question is when I removed the original unit there was no sealant or caulk. My replacement unit instructions calls for a sealant to be applied. The gaskets on both old and new units appear to be exactly the same. Do I really need to use a sealant

When replacing your A/C unit, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding sealant use. If the replacement unit specifies applying sealant, it's advisable to do so, even if the original installation didn't include it. Proper sealing ensures optimal performance and prevents potential leaks.
